Fithiebank

Fithiebank

The Commission has conducted a review of the boundary between Angus council area and Dundee City council area at Fithiebank.

This review began when the Commission decided that a review was required and agreed its Initial Proposals for the boundary at its meeting of December 2008. The Commission then wrote to the two affected local authorities, seeking representations on the Initial Proposals. In April, the Commission considered the representations received from the local authorities, and agreed to publish the Initial Proposals as its Provisional Proposals for public consultation. That consultation period began on 14 May 2009, and lasted until 6 August 2009 - a period of 12 weeks.

At its meeting of October 2009, the Commission concluded that a Local Inquiry was not required for the Fithiebank review, adopted its Provisional Proposals as its Final Recommendations, and agreed to submit its report containing its Final Recommendations to Scottish Ministers. The report was published on 29 October 2009.

Scottish Ministers laid an Order before the Scottish Parliament implementing the Commission's recommendations. The Scottish Parliament approved that Order, with the boundary changes taking effect on 1 April 2010.
